Punta Gorda Fl is a charming and historic town located on the pristine shores of Charlotte Harbor and is one of the oldest incorporated cities in Florida. A stroll through the downtown area takes one past beautifully restored homes that date back as far as the late 1800’s. The entire area is listed in the National Register of Historical Districts and there are 10 individual Historic Places as well as numerous cafe’s, restaurants and boutiques. Also, right downtown is beautiful Laishley Park and Marina, perfect for a family picnic with gazebo, garden, fishing pier and boat ramp and the site of our 4th of July fireworks display. A stones throw down the road is Fishermans Wharf, a shopping, marina and restaurant complex. From Fishermans Wharf, take the Harborwalk which runs through Punta Gorda Linear Park into the downtown area and along the Historic Florida Southern Railroad all the way back to Laishley Park.
Punta Gorda Fl is also home to a number of diverse museums; Muscle Car City Museum, the Military Heritage Museum, Blanchard House Museum, Punta Gorda History Park, A.C Freeman House and the Punta Gorda Train Depot. For the nature lover there is no shortage of things to do; catch the sunset at Ponce De Leon Park, birdwatch at the Peace River Wildlife Center or hike the 3.5 miles of trails through the Alligator Creek Preserve.
With a pleasant year round climate, golfing, boating, fishing and swimming are enjoyed throughout the year. Fishing and sightseeing charters are abundant, be sure to make early reservations and catch the Christmas Light Canal Cruise or spend the day on Cayo Costa!
